Terry attended Otahuhu Secondary School and left at 16 years of age.
He then worked in the Otahuhu Railways Workshops and then went
farming. Later he joined the Navy and went to Korea during the Korean
War.
He had a motorbike accident and sustained head injuries which meant he
had to leave the Navy.
Terry met Marie Sims and they married at Ellerslie and then went to
live in a house that they built at Te Atatu. While there Rosann and
David were born. Terry then worked at Jones and May Toy Factory in New
Lynn.
After his marriage broke up he went overseas on the boat'' Flavia''.
After spending time in Germany he returned to N.Z. met Heather and
married her and moved to Taupo, later on to Athenree.Due to ill health
Terry sold his house at Athenree and moved to Waihi where he continued
to grow his cacti for which he was well known .
