Started a building apprenticeship with Sayers Builders at Royal Oak on
the 21-08-1908 until 21-08-1910.
From there he went building at the Galatea Estate. From there went
back to Hillsborough and built his own home at 31 Turamea Road, Royal
Oak prior to his marriage to Lizzie Moss (Dot) on 11-11-1914.
A few years later he bought a farm at Buckland and did building for
the Education Department.
His two children John Owen and Amy Alison were born in Onehunga.
From Buckland the family moved to Otahuhu. Ten years later they
bought a farm at Karapiro, Cambridge where his wife died. Later he
remarried and settled in Hamilton until his death.
