MIchael was known as Mick.
Mick walked with a limp as he had had a serious accident being run over by a horse and drey,
His leg was severly injured and the surgeon wanted to amputate his leg. Mick's brother's protested this with the surgeon and convinced them to attempt to save his leg. The surgeon managed to save Mick's leg, but was left with it slightly shorter and if affected his gait.
